This game was basically dead, but the dev work was apparently transferred to some volunteers. They put out a huge update, put it up for sale at -94% until March 5th and enabled EAC support for Linux.
Hoping to get more people to play this and keep it alive.
Thank you for the heads up my g. This is basically pvp payday 2 (pre-planning shit) and I’m here for it. Gonna buy this for the group.
I most certainly welcome any developer embracing linux support. And to be quite honest, the game looks fairly polished and interesting, it gives me vibes of an indie extraction shooter with its own unique gameplay elements.
unfortunately, I am not particularly interested in PVP online anymore, so I’ll probably skip.
But I wish the developer all the sucess they can get, and I hope they will find a loyal audience.
Yeah PvP (especially fast pace shooter type stuff) is not for everyone. I used to play a lot of Rainbow Six Siege, but when i stopped dual booting windows, that came to an end. Since then i have almost exclusively played PvE games and it has been a much more relaxing and stress free experience tbh.
Im still gonna give this a try tho, just like i did with Apex Legends when it got Linux support.
Why it fall flat and lose player in the first place?
The old devs kinda stopped adding new stuff and fixing bugs. The current ones did that and also seem to have a bit of a plan for how to keep things interesting. More gamemodes and UX improvements are a big point of improvement too according to old time players. Its absolutely possible that it will go down again, it just kinda depends on the community staying interested and giving feedback, but at that price it wouldnt be a huge monetary loss even if it does die down again.
I used to play this game a lot a few years ago before the player base got too small. It was a blast then and it seems to have only gotten better. I’ll definitely be giving it another try this week.
I like the idea of each map being a new experience. I always came to Payday games late and with no friends so the initial learning curve was too harsh. If we’re always having to examine each map, I’m much more likely to do well.
Yep its a great idea for counteracting seniority advantage imo. I have yet to play much, but after restarting once even got the voice chat to work. The visual map planning thing lets people plan even without vc tho.
The only worry i have is that its built on Unity, which is not the best for a shooter like this, but im gonna stay optimistic.
I thought that too about planning with the map w/o using VC. That’s a big plus for me, if I can help whip up a game plan first thing or go along with one and then respond to other people’s calls I’m set, I love playing PUGs without a mic personally. I’m a parent but even before this kid came along I always lived with people and it’s just easier to share a space without being on a mic, but I’m happy to listen to people who are on.
PS5’s built-in mics have been great for me for PUGameplay tbh. In supported games like Helldivers 2, I can keep it off until I hear someone talking and then join in. I like the option of VC being freely available to male tactical choices about, but 99% of the time I’m good just using pings and paying attention.
Edited to add, what are the concerns with Unity? I know it’s unpopular but that’s about it
Yeah VC is not for everyone. When i play with women in my party, its sadly still a nightmare in many games as soon as they start using their mic.
male tactical choices
its a typo i know but i chuckled at it anyways :D
Looks interesting - bought the bundle for $2ish and will check it out
